| A school outing in Brussels |
These kids were obviously having a good time with this outing to the town square. When confronted by this alien man with the big black camera, they simply made funny faces, not showing a single hint of hostility, just broad friendly smiles. I didn't realize until later that I was looking completely different -- different complexion, different attire, I was even wearing a wide-brimmed hat -- a little like the one wore by Indiana Jones. I guess they were making fun of me, thinking what an idiot taking pictures of them ordinary school kids doing an ordinary outing. To me, this is a very good glimpse of life in an alien city, a perfect slice of memory. As I said in my last blog, I still have vivid memory of the afternoon when this picture was taken.
