Sam Ching Mountain

Sam Ching Mountain
The Sam Ching Mountain is located in XanXi province in mid-China.  A tour to the mountain top is a demanding task -- it is not like having to hire a Sherpa and trek for a fortnight.  People would pay a day visit to the peaks, but man, it was a back-breaking experience.  From the cable car station, you'd see footpaths leading to various peaks and valleys, and by the scale of the map, the whole place wasn't that big.  Indeed, the linear distance between point A and B wasn't that long but it could easily mean going up a flight of steps 500 feet high and then descending for another several hundred feet.  A lot of footpaths were carved out of sheer rock cliffs, with the bottom a thousand feet below.  While I was traversing the footpaths, damning the steep climbs and the near perpendicular descends, trying to catch my breath, it dawned on me with this question -- why the hell would any sane person plan these routes, and how the hell did those people build these paths when even with the modern technology and power machines, their construction are near impossible!  Impossible.  See the picture below:
