Communal living

A village in Ho Yuen, rural Quangdong.  We just walked into village, into the houses, and met the people.  They just greeted us, no hostility, no suspicion.  They were used to living in a real community, where chickens roamed free, so did all the people.  The courtyard was shared, the water tap was shared, and almost everything else.  In the city, we don't even greet our neighbors living down the hallway.  Photo was taken in March 2010, not that long ago.
The row of houses were pretty rundown, but still habitable - a living museum.
