The historic building at Pound Lane

A deserted courtyard
This place is about 1 minute walk from where I live, yet this is the first time I ever take a picture of the courtyard!  In fact, I grew up in this same area, meaning the first time I saw this place was probably when I was 5~6, when I was allowed to roam freely from home, maybe with my elder siblings.  Isn't it ironic that we travel afar just to visit historic buildings adorned with history, yet we have these places at our backyard, also full of stories to tell, yet we barely take a long enough look at them to realize that they also have their charaters....
The night had turn this picture into a much more interesting one, the unlit wall in the front was pitch-black, hiding unworthy minor details, and the dark branches of the tree helped to put yet a deeper sense of mystery to this desolated, although well-lit century-old yard.  This is now a government office, but the inhabitants occupy only a small portion of the building -- this yard is likely lifeless most of the time, except when it is being cleaned.
