The 6M Pixel DSLR

Nikon is about to unveil their 36M D800, and I am missing my 6M D40 even more.  I gave my D40 to my son about 4 years ago, and I traded it back with a D40X.  The more I looked at pictures taken with the D40, I developed a closer fondness to the 6M sensor.  It just grew on me.  I followed the same path like everybody else and bought a D40X to replace the D40 because it was just so very cheap.
Why do I missed the camera that I traded it back from my son?  I gave it to a relative who was in dire need of a camera.  I wasn't using it much so I thought he would likely use it much more than I do, so in a spur of a moment's decision, I gave it to him.
In order to trade it back, what do I have in my arsenal?  I only have a D2X, a D3 and a D90 with me right now, and I really could trade any of these for the D40...... Now I'm beginning to develop the thought of getting a used D40......
I think very soon, I will develop the same fondness (I mean, an even deeper fondness than now) for the D3 -- full-frame and ONLY 12M pixels.... The D3 will be one of the classics I'll hold on to, like the Hasselblad 500C/M and the Nikon FE2.
Will I want a D800?  Definitely..... Why?  'Cos it got 36M pixels!!
